New helicopter service takes off from Phuket
The aerial view of the Big Buddha statue pictured left was shot during the maiden Phuket-Phang Nga voyage of Skydance Helicopters Co., Ltd., which was launched last week and operates out of a heliport in Sakoo.
Their services offers personalized charter or shuttle flights, one way or round trips to Bangkok, Krabi, Surat Thani, Phang Nga and a number of other destinations in Thailand.
In an hour-long tour to Phang Nga province and back, passengers soon find themselves peering down at Khao Tapu (James Bond Island), then swooping over the floating village of Koh Panyi.
Then it's back to Phuket to fly-over some of the island's landmarks.
On this flight, a fly around the Big Buddha statue on Nakkerd Hill was followed by a sweep around the island to get fleeting glimpses fo teh beaches and marinas along the west-and east-coast strands of the island.
