About Captain Athayuth Khaosa-Ard
Born Oct 21, 1970, Captain Athayuth “Arthur” Khaosa-ard was the flight instructor for the Search & Rescue in the Royal Thai Air Force. With over 2,000 flight hours with the UH-1H Huey under his wings, he left the Royal Thai Air Force career to pursue a new path as a commercial helicopter pilot with Advance Aviation since 2009.
"Arthur” was the nickname given to him by his instructor and has used it ever since, as it is easier to remember for the foreign tongue. He began his career since 1994, when he was handpicked from the selected few to join the combat pilot division in the Royal Thai Air Force. As a student pilot, he flew the CT-4 A/B small single propeller training aircraft and the T-37B Twinny basic twin jet engines aircraft. After his training was complete in 1996, Captain Arthur was mesmerized with helicopters with its ability to hover in one place and even fly backwards. It was these special characteristics of the helicopter which made Captain Arthur decided to redirect his career path in this direction. Even changing is original dream of becoming a fighter pilot for the Royal Thai Air Force.
Captain Arthur started his helicopter career with the UH-1H in the Search & Rescue division at Sqn. 203 Wing 2 Lopburi AFB and was supported by his instructor to train with the Bell-412. While training with the Bell-412, Captain Arthur served Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and many high-profile individuals. After that, Captain Arthur was deployed on a variety of Search & Rescue missions including the Flying Unit for Detachment, 2031 of Korat, 2033 of Chiang Mai, 2034 of Don Muang to name a few. Not only that, he had the opportunity to work together with the U.S.A.F. and allied forces on many occasions, which gained him experiences on a variety of missions.
While serving with the RTAF, Captain Arthur received training in the Professional Military Education (PME) as a Commanding Officer, Flight Safety Officer, Squadron Officer, and Command Staff Officer, which earned him the title “This person has the skills and knowledge to work under strict safety.” On top of that, Captain Arthur was also a helicopter flight instructor, while serving as the “Standard Evaluation Examiner” for the RTAF.
With over 15 years and over 2,500 flight hours under his wings along with the excellent technology of the EC-130B4 at his control, you can rest assured that this captain will take you to the skies with comfort and safety as his top priority.”
“Helicopter pilots are different because we can hover!”
